Self-care begins with a genuine interest and joy in getting to know yourself – understanding how your body works. This knowledge helps us accept ourselves more fully and is an act of self-love. When we allow ourselves to follow our own rhythm and explore who we are, we create space for inner abundance.
When I am not feeling well, I often go step by step to understand what might be causing it:
Basic Needs: Have I eaten and drunk enough? Did I get sufficient sleep?
Cycle Phase: Which phase of my cycle am I in, and could my symptoms have hormonal causes?
Emotional Level: Was I triggered by a current situation or projection that is causing unusually strong reactions?
Cosmic Influence: How are the current moon phases or astrological constellations affecting me?
This conscious sequence allows me to better perceive myself – and thereby strengthen my sense of agency. Everything we understand about ourselves also affects our nervous system.
We take responsibility for how we respond to life and do not make ourselves dependent on external circumstances. This strengthens our relationships and creates deeper connections.
Everything in the universe is interconnected – including us and the cycles of the Earth, Sun, and Moon. Astrology and lunar rhythms can help us better understand our behavior and emotions.
1. Biological Parallels
The average menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days – roughly the same length as the lunar cycle (from new moon to new moon: ~29.5 days).
This temporal alignment led early cultures to believe that a woman’s cycle was influenced by the moon.
2. Historical & Cultural Connection
In many ancient cultures, the Moon symbolized the feminine, while the Sun was considered masculine. The Moon represents rhythm, change, fertility, and intuition – all themes closely connected to the female cycle.
Historically, women often menstruated in sync with the Moon:
White Moon Cycle: Menstruation at the new moon, ovulation at the full moon – symbolizing fertility, new beginnings, and introspection.
Red Moon Cycle: Menstruation at the full moon, ovulation at the new moon – associated with healing, creativity, and spiritual guidance.
3. Possible Scientific Influences
The Moon affects night light – which may in turn influence our hormones (e.g., melatonin, sleep). Before artificial light, moonlight could have rhythmically guided the female cycle.
Some studies suggest that women with natural sleep patterns (limited artificial light) are more likely to synchronize with the lunar cycle. However, this influence is not definitively proven, as modern lifestyles – with screens, artificial light, and high stress – can strongly override these natural rhythms.
4. Psychological & Spiritual Dimension
Many women experience the lunar cycle as an invitation to live in their own rhythm – more consciously, cyclically, and less linearly:
New Moon: Retreat, rest, introspection – similar to menstruation.
Waxing Moon: Growing energy, realignment – like the follicular phase.
Full Moon: Abundance, expression, fertility – like ovulation.
Waning Moon: Letting go, reflection – like the luteal phase.
By consciously acknowledging these rhythms, we can live in harmony with our bodies rather than against them. This means trusting ourselves, honoring our energy, and embracing our cyclical nature as a source of inner power.
We are responsible for how we navigate life. Our self-awareness and the cosmos help us understand ourselves better.

The MOONSISTERS Moon Calendar is a heartfelt recommendation. It strengthens self-awareness and gives a deeper understanding of the Moon’s changes in the vast, wide cosmos.
The Moon Calendar is now available in limited quantities at Maison Seelleria.
